FLASHBACK FRIDAY: Chris Young Gets His First Number-One in 2009

Flashback to the second week of October 2009, when Chris Young hit number-one on the song charts for the very first time with his hit “Gettin’ You Home” from his The Man I Want To Be album.

Chris Young has become one of music city’s most reliable hit makers in the last few years with a bunch of number-one songs, but in 2009 Chris had not topped the song charts until October of that year, when his song “Gettin’ You Home” took the spot. Chris remembers that this was an interesting time in his career, “It’s so far into the beginning of my career, it was my second album it was my fourth single and for that one to be the one that took off, it was kind of that moment of, is it going to happen for me is it not as an artist .” Over the years since “Gettin’ You Home” went number-one, Chris says it’s still one of his most popular songs in concert, “still to this day that song is always one of the biggest crowd responses that I get during my entire show. People singing that back to you… it’s something that you always talk about as an artist, but it’s really important to hear the crowd singing the song back louder than you are. It doesn’t matter how old that song gets, I think ‘Gettin’ You Home’ is always going to be one of those songs that always gets that kind of response.” The anniversary of his first number-one song is leading up to the release day of his brand new album on October 20th. Chris’ seventh studio album, Losing Sleep, arrives in stores and online 3 days after he officially becomes the latest member of the Grand Ole Opry.
