Flashback to the first week of August 2008, when the legendary country music duo Brooks & Dunn received their star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame
August 4th 2008 Brooks and Dunn cemented their stardom as they became one of the celebrities to be immortalized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame which honors the incredible career of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn. During the unveiling ceremony Kix noted hat Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman‘s star was just a step away, and while during Ronnie’s list of thank yous, a passing car that honked it’s horn got added to the list.
Speaking to the crowd that gathered for the unveiling of their star in Hollywood, Ronnie Dunn said it took more than he and Kix Brooks to create the career that earned them a place of the Walk of Fame. (:23)
“You know, our name I guess is going to be on [there] saying ‘Ronnie Dunn & Kix Brooks’ or ‘Brooks & Dunn,’ but there are hundreds of people that should be in that stone with us…all the way from friends and family (SFX: car horn starts blowing somewhere nearby) to managers and guys in the band…to our record label…that guy blowing the horn.” (Crowd laughs.)
Speaking to the crowd that gathered for the unveiling of their star in Hollywood, Kix Brooks noted that he and Ronnie Dunn are a lot like the fans that visit Los Angeles to seek out their favorite star on the Walk of Fame. (:38)
“I think sometimes people forget that Ronnie and I have dedicated our lives to music and what we do because originally we were such huge fans. I mean, for us…to have your name on a star in Hollywood seems so out of reach, you know? To walk along as a fan — I see Morgan Freeman’s name right next to us — to think of the talent that is recognized in these stars along this walk. I think we probably identify more with you guys, probably a lot more than the…than the names that are on these stars.”
