Elle King – Being Welcomed To Country Music (AUDIO)
“You know, being welcomed in this way has changed my life. It’s changed the way that I see the world. It has given me a sense of, like, being okay. And because country fans are, they’re just, there’s, they’re real people. And they’re so loyal because they love what music does for them- how it connects. And it’s so incredible and pop and rock and so many other facets of the entertainment industry that I have, you know, seen and tried to be a part of, can be very cutthroat. And I just felt like, as soon as I kind of walked into a country room, I felt like I could exhale, and, you know, loosen my belt buckle, because I could eat lunch that day, you know, and I just felt like I was home. And it’s been such an incredible experience. It’s changed my life and changed my family’s life. And there’s nothing in the world like it. And I didn’t understand how or why people would have tried to go from big careers in other genres and come to country until I saw it firsthand, like, oh, now, that’s it because it’s the best. And there’s so much genuine love in it. And I just thought, that’s where I want to live my life. And when I became a mother, this is where I want to raise my son, and I want my son to see a different side of the entertainment industry. And I’m so glad that I’m raising him here and in this musical community where that search for balance that I always used to make a joke that if anybody says they figured out balance, they’re lying. No, it’s just only a country because you can go and play shows and make music. And then you have this awesome home community of love and supportive people that get it and are in it and they root for you. And it was something that I had never experienced before in any aspect of my life and once I kind of felt it. I dug my newly bought cowboy boots in and it would take a lot to- I’m- No, I’m never leaving!

Elle King’s debut country album Come Get Your Wife will be released Friday, Jan 27.

With the release of Come Get Your Wife, “Tulsa” is another glimpse into the fresh, unbridled and honest album that almost feels like a look into King’s journal. The brassy tune joins the current single “Worth A Shot” with Dierks Bentley – currently at #43 and rising, the previously released smash hit “Drunk (And I Don’t Want To Go Home)” with Miranda Lambert, the banjo-basted take-your-small town gossip “Out Yonder,” and the hallelujah sass of “Try Jesus,” all part of the “Come Get Your Wife” line-up. King wrote eight of the 12 songs and co-produced the album with Ross Copperman.

Fans can hear the new music live starting February 14 with her 2023 headlining Elle King A-FREAKIN-MEN Tour Presented by Slow & Low. The nearly 30 city tour will kick-off Valentine’s Day in New Orleans, LA.
