Come Together – Story Behind the Song

The first single off the 24 live projects is going to be Come Together, which is obviously the epic Beatles tune. It’s a song I’ve been playing for a long time, and I feel like we’ve put our own, our own spin on it. I know it’s been covered, quite a few times, but this version I think is really unique and man, our fans have loved this version. It’s one of the most, anticipated moments in our live show. One of the most commented on moments in our live show. So I’m excited to be able to immortalize this version, our version of this awesome epic song, and give it to our fans and in a way that they can listen to it whenever they want.

Bixby – Story Behind the Song

Bixby is a song that, man this one means a lot to me. It’s about my hometown. It’s, when I think about where I come from and the way that I was raised up, this is the song that just fell out. And it’s a song I’ve never recorded before. It’s a song that, one time I played when we sold out Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa for the first time, and my fans loved it. You know, you guys really responded in a big way to it and the next time we came back through Tulsa, it was amazing to see how many people wanted this song. There were signs in the crowd. So when we, when I came back out for an encore, it only felt right to do this song on the live record, and I was blown away by how many people knew the the lyrics to an unreleased song. That man, it just means so much to me to be able to write about my real life, about the real town that I’m from, and for so many people to connect with it and care about it and find their own story and see their own hometown in this song.

’24 Live – The Story Behind the Album

I’d say one of the biggest reasons I wanted to do a live record is because I truly believe that it’s one of my strongest assets as a as a musician. I grew up playing live music. This is where my heart and soul lies is in the live performance aspect and, you know, we have so much energy and so many unique moments that happen in each song that are so different from the recorded versions. And I think that’s why so many people are buying tickets now is they’ve, we’ve been through a lot of these cities once, and they’ve experienced the magic of being present for a moment that can only happen once. And, I thought like, it would be a really cool way to immortalize some of these versions, these live, unique versions of these songs, and give them to our fans who have either been to the shows and have fallen in love with those moments, or to kind of show some of our fans and some new fans what we’re all about live. I also think it’s really rare in today’s day and country music for a band to be better live than they are, even on the recordings. And I truly, truly believe that some of these versions are even better than the original recorded versions. I was absolutely blown away when we got the mixes back. I didn’t know what to expect and it surpassed all my expectation. You feel like you’re there, like you’re part of the crowd when you listen to this record and you can just feel the energy.

The Meaning of Touring

Touring is the lifeblood of what we do. I think more now than ever for country artists, being on the road is one, that’s how you it’s how you make you living, it’s how you take care of your family, but it’s also how you interact with your fans on the most personal level. It’s, this back and forth relationship. It’s being able to to make eye contact with the people who care about your music and it’s being able to see, how they respond to the music. It’s it’s the most accurate way that we get feedback on, on the art that we’re creating. And I love being on the road and waking up in these cities and seeing how you guys live your lives in these places and being a part of that for a night. It’s, it’s a magical thing. And I think that we’re the luckiest, group of people in the world, the country artists to get to tour these, these great cities and towns and come into these venues and meet all these new, new faces every night. I just I don’t take for granted a single second of it.

Favorite Tour Memory

So we just wrapped up our first ever headline tour. It was amazing. The Black Bandana Tour went so well that we decided to extend it into the spring and do a second leg of the tour. Man, I just have so many memories that come flooding in from this tour and I’ll never forget our first headline tour, but one of my favorite memories from this particular run of shows is there was a fan that wrote me a note about the song Black Bandana, but about all of my music in general, and was just saying “thank you for reminding me that it is okay for me to be how different I am”. And that crushed me, man. It just made me realize there’s probably so many people out there who do feel different, and being able to encourage people to just be okay with being unique, be okay with the path that you’re walking, even though it might not be the easiest path. Maybe, you know, whatever you’re walking through, knowing that it’s okay to be on your own journey, walking at your own pace. And, that note meant everything to me. It made me realize that these songs are deeper, they’re connecting in a deeper way than just a, you know, a song that you hear on the radio on your way to work or a song that you hear come up on a playlist, you know, while you’re streaming music like this, this stuff is impacting people’s lives in the way that they see their world and the way that they see themselves. So that was undoubtedly like the most impactful memory I have from this Black Bandana Tour.

Favorite part of Touring

I think my favorite part about touring is, there’s always a moment in every show and every single set that we play that you can see somebody in the crowd truly connecting on a really deep and personal level with the lyrics of the song. And to be vulnerable enough to write down your thoughts about your real life and to put it out there into the world, and then to see somebody connect on that level where they’re, you know, tears are coming down their face or their, you know, hands are up or they’re holding the beer up just screaming these lyrics at the top of their lungs like they wrote them themselves, like they’ve walked that same road. That is what live music is all about and it’s it’s magical. It’s there’s nothing like seeing that that raw response to somebody connecting with the lyrics that you wrote.
