Chris Young may stand over six feet tall, but it was four-foot-eleven Grand Ole Opry titan Little Jimmy Dickens who made Chris feel like a big man recently, not so much from a height perspective, but more in the sense of appreciation and acknowledgement that Chris felt from the country legend. Chris says he always loves getting to perform on the Opry, though he laughs that his friends don’t always seem to keep up with his performances. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- Chris is on the radio now with his gorgeous new hit, “The Man I Want to Be,” the title track to his current album that includes his number-one smash, “Gettin’ You Home.”
- The February 22nd edition of Country Weekly (on sale now) includes a “6 Questions with Chris Young” feature that reveals one of the music-biz people that Chris would still love to meet…the answer: Randy Travis. In this fun bite from the Prep Site archives, Chris talks about being a kid and driving his parents crazy singing Randy’s “Diggin’ Up Bones.” http://prep.hearsomethingcountry.com/2009/02/26/chris-young-ill-turn-this-car-right-around-mister/
Chris Young talks about a recent performance on the Grand Ole Opry. (:32)
“It was so weird, just standin’ there on stage — and I’ve gotten very lucky that they’ve let me perform on the Opry several, several times, and it never fails: one of my friends will always text me and go, ‘Oh, so this is your first time on the Opry?’ And I just kind of laugh. But, you know, as many times as I’ve played — first of all, it never gets old…it’s always exciting — and the other night, havin’ Little Jimmy Dickens introduce me and just say a bunch of really nice things about me before I went on the Opry, it was just…it just kind of hit me. I don’t really know why, but it was just one of those really special moments.”
