What’s the best part of waking up? Getting a call from a friend telling you that you’re nominated for an award. That’s exactly what happened to Chris Young when the nominees for this year’s ACM Awards were announced. Chris remembers getting that call that clued him into his nods in the Single of the Year and Album of the Year categories–and then telling his friend “let me hang up, and go look, and I’ll call you back.” Chris will be fielding a lot more calls if he wins in either category Sunday night at the 51st Academy Of Country Music Awards, broadcasting live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, on the CBS Television Network.

“Four ACM noms, which is huge. It’s unbelievable. I woke up, literally to one of my friends calling me, and they were like ‘Hey congratulations,’ and I’m like ‘On what?’ they’re like, ‘Oh you haven’t seen yet have you?’ I was like, ‘Nope, but I got a pretty good idea of what you’re talking about! So let me hang up, and go look, and I’ll call you back.’ Just having four nominations, having it be Single of the Year and Album of the Year. Being nominated as a producer on the first thing that I’ve co-produced, it’s just pretty unbelievable. I’m definitely, I’m always pumped for the ACM’s, but this year it’s gonna be special.”
