CHRIS YOUNG: Waiting Ten Plus Years For Christmas

audio

Now that we’re done with Thanksgiving, eyes…and ears…and turning to finding that perfect Christmas soundtrack, and Chris Young has the album for you! Chris has released his first ever full-length Christmas album called It Must Be Christmas, which features such holiday favorites as “The Christmas Song,” “Holly Jolly Christmas,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and more! Plus, the album also includes two brand new holiday songs co-written by Chris, “Under The Weather,” and the title track “It Must Be Christmas.” Chris has a couple of very special guests appear on the album too. Brad Paisley joins Chris on “The First Noel,” Alan Jackson appears with Chris on a song that is also included on one of Chris Young’s favorite Christmas albums ever…Alan Jackson’s first Christmas album. “There’s A New Kid In Town” was originally co-written by Keith Whitley, one Chris’ musical heroes. Keith and Alan sang it the first time, and now on It Must Be Christmas, Alan joins Chris to sing it again. Another group that was influential on Chris appears on his Christmas album–Boyz II Men. Chris was a huge fan of theirs growing up, and now they sing with him on an amazing version of “Silent Night.” If it sounds like Chris Young pulled out all the stops for his new album–he did! Chris has been waiting over ten years to make a Christmas album, and when he got the shot, he was going to make sure it was exactly the album he wanted to make. And Chris says that after all this time, It Must Be Christmas was worth the wait.

“It’s something that I’ve waited ten years to make, and even longer if you look at you know before I was on RCA and all the things that I was doing musically. I’ve never had the chance to record a full Christmas album. I love Christmas time. I love Christmas music, and this is just something that I’ve really wanted to make, and for whatever reason every year, whether it was you know I didn’t write an original song that I loved that year, or didn’t really have the time to make it, or it didn’t make sense with you know everything else we had going on around it. I’ve just never made one, and so this really is ten years plus in the making and I’m so glad It Must Be Christmas is the product I got after all that wait.”
