CHRIS YOUNG: Updating Vince

audio

Imagine you get to work with a hero of yours, and you get to update them on the progress of the project you did together.  That’s what Chris Young is getting to do with Vince Gill when he says how the song “Sober Saturday Night” is doing. When he was making the song, Chris knew Vince would be the perfect fit on the song. So, he reached out to Vince, who said “yes.” Chris headed to Vince’s house to work on the song, where Vince had some suggestions when it came to the guitar sound on “Sober Saturday Night”–and of course Chris looked at Vince’s various music awards, and told Vince, yeah, you can do what you want to do. Now that the song is out and climbing the song charts, when Chris runs into Vince at events, he loves the that that he can say to Vince ‘yeah man, our song is doing well. Song’s doing well…it’s climbing!’

“I’ve seen Vince a couple of different times, I saw him obviously at the CMA awards and a few times here and there in between since the song’s been out. It’s pretty cool being able to look at him and go ‘yeah man, our song is doing well. Song’s doing well…it’s climbing!’ So, it’s pretty crazy saying that to Vince Gill, but it’s a lot of fun.”
