CHRIS YOUNG: Super Conflicted

audio

Chris Young is conflicted over who to root for in this year’s Super Bowl since his team, the Dallas Cowboys, were knocked out of the playoffs. Chris could root for the New England Patriots since he has a lot of friends who root for them. Or he can root for the Atlanta Falcons, who beat the Green Bay Packers after the Packers knock the Cowboys out of Super Bowl contention. Chris admits that it’s going to be a game day decision. The only person that Chris knows that he’ll definitely be rooting for is Luke Bryan, as Luke represents the country…and country music…at this year’s Super Bowl by singing the National Anthem.

“It’s tough, you know I’ve got a lot of friends that are Patriot’s fans and they looked really really good but so did Atlanta. You know, it was a little bit bittersweet for me cause you know I am a Cowboy’s fan. We had a really good year but to lose to Green bay and then see them get crushed, I mean I just have no idea at this point. I’ll probably make my pick like day of and decide who I am rooting for cause I don’t really necessarily have a tie to either team…but you got to have somebody that you get behind the day of and I always enjoy watching the Super Bowl. So Just looking forward to it. I think it’s going to be a good game.”

“Yeah man, mean love Luke. Obviously done a bunch of shows with him and been around him a lot over the years…so having him get to be a part of the TV moment there at the super bowl this year is going to be pretty awesome.”

And a little Super Bowl National Anthem trivia for you…

The first time Houston hosted the big game was back in 1974, for Super Bowl 8 when the Miami Dolphins beat the Minnesota Vikings 24 to 7. The game was played in Rice Stadium at Rice University, and the singer of the Anthem that day was country music legend Charley Pride.

The last country music singer to belt out the National Anthem for the Super Bowl was Carrie Underwood in 2010 when the New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts 31 to 17.
