Chris Young‘s blockbuster, “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song),” moves up to number-two on the country charts this week! It’s from his new album, The Man I Want to Be, and with the album in stores and “Gettin’ You Home” all over the radio, we decided to ask Chris whether he’s being recognized in public a lot more these days. He says his voice often gives him away, but what throws off a lot of people is seeing him without the cowboy hat. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)
- Be sure to pick up Chris’ new album! In addition to “Gettin’ You Home,” The Man I Want to Be also includes “Voices,” “Rainy Night in Georgia,” plus a Willie Nelson duet, and a whole lot more!
Chris Young says he doesn’t get recognized so much without his cowboy hat. (:26)
“Once or twice, I’ve actually had it happen. I had it happen at a football game, and I’ve had it happen at a hockey game, where you just…somebody just stops and completely, like, breaks their neck goin’, ‘Is that who I thought it was,’ which is a pretty cool feeling for me. People can usually recognize me pretty well when I start talkin’. My thing that throws everybody off is I’m never wearin’ the cowboy hat. You know, if I go out in public, I’ll just put on a ball cap…nobody knows who I am. It’s kinda crazy.”
