Chris Young talks about Jerrod Niemann and his approach to music. (:42)
“He’s one of my favorite people. Just a very, very laidback guy, very different style, very different sound, and he knows exactly what he wants to do. And that’s not true of a lot of musicians. Some people are just kind of like, ‘I want to have a hit.’ Jerrod’s one of those artists where when you sit down and talk to him, you realize he’s like, ‘Yeah, I want to have a hit, too, but I want to have a hit making music that I want to make.’ And it’s rare to see somebody that knows exactly what they want. Goin’ in the studio with that guy is just crazy ’cause he’s got…’Okay, what if we put a harp right here on this record?’ and you’re like, ‘What??’ He goes, ‘Yeah, yeah, no, stay with me!’ And I mean, just some of the ideas that he uses in studio and on his music is just brilliant.”
