CHRIS YOUNG: Hey, This Is Pretty Cool…

Chris Young has really seen his career take flight, now with four number-one hits in a row, another smash with his new song, “You,” plus he’s up for CMA New Artist of the Year and a triple-nominee for the upcoming American Country Awards. With all that and so many other exciting things these days, Chris still has those “Is this really happening?” moments, and he told us about a recent, cool “then and now” flashback on how much things have changed. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • We mentioned that Chris is nominated in three categories for the upcoming American Country Awards, and the honors are fan-voted, so if you love Chris, be sure to make your vote count! Chris is up for Single of the Year and Single by a Male Artist (both for “Voices”), as well as Artist of the Year: Breakthrough Artist. Voting in those categories runs through November 11th, and you can vote once a day at www.TheACAs.com!
  • Chris is hot on the airwaves with his latest hit, the song “You,” and he’s hot on camera, too, with his new video for “You,” as he plays the filling-station attendant looking after some very interested lady customers in the ’50s-styled clip, shot in black & white with cool pops of color. If you haven’t seen it, check it out online, and be sure to visit Chris’ website at www.ChrisYoungCountry.com to see behind-the-scenes video from the shoot!
  • And look for Chris on this weekend’s edition of GAC’s Opry Live! Catch it this Saturday, October 29th, at 9pm, ET, with additional Sunday airings at 1am, 11am, and 6pm, ET!
  • In case you were wondering… In addition to other big songs they’ve written together or with others, Rivers Rutherford and George Teren (the writers Chris mentions below) have co-written such number-one hits as Brad Paisley‘s “When I Get Where I’m Going” and Tim McGraw‘s “Real Good Man.”
  • Both “You” and the number-one fave, “Tomorrow,” are from Chris’ terrific new album, NEON.

CHRIS YOUNG: Hey, This Is Pretty Cool…  Chris Young says that there are times when he has some very cool “then and now” career moments. (1:04)
“The other day I was sittin’ in a room with Rivers Rutherford and George Teren, who have written some of the biggest songs in Nashville in the past 10 years probably, and it’s funny. We’re just all goofin’ off and just kind of rolled in, and you meet about 10:30, 11, somewhere in there, we all roll in, get a cup of coffee, and sit down, and we’re crackin’ jokes and talkin’ about golf and how bad I am at it. And I’m sittin’ here goin’, ‘Man, I remember watchin’ Rivers play a gig when I was goin’ to college.’ I was goin’ to college at Belmont for a little while, and I played…I got into this songwriters’ night where it was…they picked three people, and then Rivers Rutherford was like the guest that came in and played his songs. I remember lookin’ down there goin’, ‘Man, I want to write songs like that guy.’ And this is somebody that now, I mean, he’s like, ‘Man, we’ll come out on the bus and write with you.’ And it’s just such a weird kind of juxtaposition of where I was then and kind of what’s goin’ on now, and it’s…it doesn’t suck. I mean, it’s nice.” (laughs)
