CHRIS YOUNG: Great Things All Around!

There’s no denying that great things are happening for Chris Young…from back-to-back number-one singles, to his CMA New Artist of the Year nomination, another huge hit climbing the charts with “Voices,” and last week, his first GRAMMY Award nomination for Best Male Country Vocal Performance for his first chart-topper, “Gettin’ You Home”! All this on top of big tours with Alan Jackson and Rascal Flatts this year (and again with Flatts in 2011). It’s an impressive thing, especially when you’re living it, and Chris says that being included on the soundtrack release for the feature film Country Strong — where he duets with Patty Loveless on “Love Don’t Let Me Down” — is one more great highlight of the year for him. • Chris’ current smash, “Voices,” is from his hit-filled The Man I Want to Be album, which also includes the number-one title track and the song that earned Chris his GRAMMY nomination, “Gettin’ You Home.”
  • Chris is also among the nominees for tonight’s American Country Awards, where he’s up for Music Video: Male and Music Video of the Year, both for “The Man I Want to Be.”
  • Obviously, earning his first GRAMMY nod was a huge moment for Chris, who said, “It feels overwhelming to think that I’ve been nominated for a GRAMMY. This is the type of thing an artist strives for his whole career. It’s just been an amazing year, and heading into 2011 with my first GRAMMY nomination is unbelievable!”
  • And you can check out Chris’ duet with GRAMMY winner Patty Loveless on the original soundtrack to Country Strong, available now!

CHRIS YOUNG: Great Things All Around!  Chris Young talks about singing with Patty Loveless on the Country Strong soundtrack. (:27)
“This is another one of those things, you know, obviously gettin’ to sing with her and bein’ on a movie soundtrack, and things like that are just happenin’ more and more often these days, and it really is cool moments, you go, ‘Man, you know, I never thought I’d be able to sing on a movie soundtrack or sing with Patty Loveless,’ and it’s cool how more and more of that stuff is coming together and really happening in my career, and it’s nice to be able to say that. It’s a lot of fun.”

CHRIS YOUNG: Great Things All Around!  Chris Young recalls how the duet with Patty Loveless came about. (:34)
“It was such a cool thing when we originally kind of threw everything around, somebody brought up the name Patty Loveless. And I was like, ‘She’s not gonna do a duet we me,’ (laughs) ‘she doesn’t even know me.’ And so, ended up gettin’ in touch with her through the label, and you know, it was kind of cool, ’cause she was interested in doin’ it and heard the song and liked the song. And man, just so glad it came together. You know, one, this is my first time ever bein’ on a movie soundtrack, and then, two, to be able to have it be a really cool song with somebody that I admire in the music industry is nice.”
