CHRIS YOUNG: CMA Memory

audio

Chris Young has a special relationship with the CMA Awards. As a native to Nashville, Tennessee, the home of the CMAs, Chris had the opportunity to go to the event as a fan well before his name was being announced as a nominee. That’s what makes his nominations, like this year in the Musical Event Of The Year category (for his number-one duet with Cassadee Pope, “Think Of You”) so special. During those times when he’d attend the awards as a fan, he dreamed of being one of the artists who were there as a nominee. Chris says anytime, any category your named is mention at the CMA Awards, it’s a good day.

“One of the things that was always so cool with the CMA Awards, was that I’ve been, as a kid, I watched them obviously…but being from Nashville it was easy for me, if I could get a ticket, to go watch them, and be there in the house and see the award show. It was just always something, I was like ‘Man, maybe one day I’ll actually get to be a part of that’ other that just sitting out in the house watching other people hearing their names called. It is something that’s really important to me, especially growing up here.”    they were down to be a part of that other than just installed in the grownup here.”

“Anytime you hear your named called for something like this, it’s a good day. I mean it’s just a great feeling, and it’s one of those things that…really to be recognized like this as an artist, it means a lot to you.”
