CHRIS YOUNG: Aw Yeah!

audio

Chris Young is climbing the charts with his new hit, his song “Aw Naw,” and as Chris told us about writing the song, it was clear to see that part of the inspiration was actually from those occasions when your lips may say, “Aw naw,” but your actions say, “Aw yeah!” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • Get well wishes go out to Chris — it was revealed today (8/14) that Chris is in a Denver-area hospital suffering from a leg infection. While the source of the problem is unknown, Chris is in stable condition and expected to remain in the hospital for at least 24 hours. Chris was en route to a headlining show in Kalispell, Montana, when the symptoms set in, and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital. In a statement, Chris said, “I’m so sorry to disappoint the fans but I didn’t even know I was sick. One minute I was fine then suddenly I’m being rushed to the hospital. I look forward to being up and around and back on the road.” As a result of the hospitalization, Chris’ Kalispell, Montana, show tonight has been cancelled, as are his next three appearances on Brad Paisley‘s Beat This Summer Tour: August 15th, 16th, and 17th.
  • “Aw Naw” is the first single from Chris’ upcoming album, titled A.M., set for release on September 17th!

“You know what, honestly, this song fell out so organically because two of the guys that I wrote a lot of things on this album with, Ashley Gorley and Chris DeStefano, it was fun writing with them, and this was actually Ashley’s idea, the title. And he said it to me; at first, I’m like, ‘What?’ (laughs) I did the same thing like everybody else has done when they read the title of this song, but it was like, ‘Naw, man, like, you know how, if you’re goin’ out…?’ ’cause I had just mentioned about, ‘Man, I ended up hangin’ out way later than I meant to last night,’ and he goes, ‘You know, that’s a song!’ And I was like, ‘Well, what is it?’ He’s like, ‘You know, you go, like, “Aw naw!”‘ It’s like, I can’t believe that I ended up staying, and now I’m here, and I’m in the middle of something, and I see this girl, and he goes, ‘That’s really how we should take it,’ and that’s what we did, ’cause it’s really true to life. I think just about everybody’s had one of those nights — at least one — where you’re just like, ‘Naw, I’m gonna go home…oh, crap, I’m gonna stay.'”
