CHRIS YOUNG: A Great Feeling

While Chris Young has been enjoying a lot of career success on the road and on the charts, five number-one singles, and so much more, it still blows his mind sometimes when he gets a compliment about his music, especially if it comes from a musical hero like Alan Jackson. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • Chris’ newest career success is his chart-climbing single, “I Can Take It from There,” which follows a trio of favorites from his NEON album, including the title track and the back-to-back number-one hits “You” and “Tomorrow.”
  • Be sure to watch for Chris and Brantley Gilbert as they make cameos on this Wednesday’s episode of the hit series, Nashville. Entertainment Weekly reports that the party scene in which Chris appears, which celebrates the success of a song by show characters Rayna (Connie Britton) and Juliette (Hayden Panettiere), was something Chris considered very realistic, telling EW: “It was pretty true to life since I’d had a number one and Neon CD release party at the very same location where our scene was shot.” And about the experience of guesting on Nashville, Chris added, “And really, who doesn’t jump at the chance to meet Connie Britton?” Catch the episode on January 23rd at 10pm, ET, on ABC.

CHRIS YOUNG: A Great Feeling  Chris Young says that it’s an incredible feeling to get a compliment from a musical hero. (:43)
“Yeah, it’s wild when people that I look up to say they like my music or they’re a fan of it. And I mean, even people that you’ve been on tour with. I mean, I actually saved a soundbite of Alan Jackson talkin’ about how much he liked…I did a version of ‘Wanted’ when they, like, inducted him as a thing of honor, and I was like, nervous as hell, ’cause I’m like, ‘If I forget the words to “Wanted” in front of Alan Jackson, this is gonna be so awkward!’ And he actually went on and was like, ‘Man, if he’d been around, he should cut that song.’ I was like…I kind of freak out a little bit over that, you know? That’s somebody I grew up listenin’ to, and it happens from time to time when you’re a new artist comin’ up. I mean, you’re gonna run into people that you’ve listened to on the radio your entire life. So, it’s pretty wild.”
