Chris Young has another big hit with “The Man I Want to Be,” a song about a guy in a troubled relationship where things can still turn around for the better, but not without one more chance from the lady in his life. So the guy decides to earn that chance by working harder to be the best man he can be — words to live by for any guy, really — and exactly the sentiment in Chris’ favorite line in the song. “This song really is all about, you know, a relationship that…it can kind of go either way, you know? There’s been some bad stuff happen in the relationship, and you know, the guy’s really talkin’ to his girl sayin’, ‘Look, I know there’s been a lot of stuff that’s happened, and we’re kind of at a crossroads. We have to make a decision what we’re gonna do here.’ But he’s sayin’, ‘I want to be a good man.’ Probably my favorite line in the song — the first chorus says, ‘I want to be a good man, a do-like-I-should man. I want to be the kind of man the mirror’d like to see.'”
