CHASE RICE: Not Holding Back

audio

Chase Rice is very upfront, and admits that he doesn’t hold back on much…and he’s OK with that. Chase says “My career I’ve built on being myself, and I’ve built on saying it the way I want to say it, and if you don’t like that, then too bad.” That goes for his songwriting too. Chase doesn’t hold back, so when it came to his new song “Whisper,” Chase continued his “no-holding-back” policy, and wrote a song that moves from love to passion in an obvious way…and Chase is just fine with that.

audio  Chase Rice talks about how the creative process behind “Whisper” kind of reflects the attitude he’s taking to his career. (:50)
“My career I’ve built on being myself, and I’ve built on saying it the way I want to say it, and if you don’t like that, then too bad, I’m not going to change for you. Cause that’s just who I am, and that’s the way I was built, and when we went to write ‘Whisper’ we were writing it, and I said ‘guys, let’;s not hold anything back. Let’s just write the song that way it needs to be written.’ And that’s what it was, it was what if that $75.94 you spend at the store takes the rest of the night off,  as it slides to the floor. It’s not covering it, it’s happening and such a subtle title, and a quiet title, turns into such a big loud ‘this is what we’re doing on hold anything back,’ and that’s passion. I’m a passionate person and then whether it’s football or anything else or what ‘Whisper”s about, I’m gonna be passionate about it. It’s not a love song, we had our fun song with ‘Ready, Set, Roll’…we had our love song With ‘Gonna Wanna Tonight’ now we got our, ‘let’s get down to it’ song with ‘Whisper.'”
