CHASE RICE: Heads Down, Eyes Up

audio

If you see Chase Rice wearing a hat or a shirt with the letters “HDEU”—you should know that it has a special meaning for him. “HDEU” is the acronym for Chase’s own personal motto “Head Down, Eyes Up.” He used that saying to get through hard times in his life, and the philosophy behind the saying is that you should always work hard in the moment but keep looking towards the future, and keep striving for your goals. He originally came up with the saying in college when he wrote “HDEU” on a hat with a sharpie. Now he has many more hats, and much more success. He believes this mentality has allowed him to come as far as he has in his life, and the sky is the limit for him as long as he keeps his “Head Down, Eyes Up.”

“Made my first one in college, that was just a motto of mine when I was hurt down about life, life kinda sucked but I kept saying ‘Head Down Eyes Up’ keep going. For me it’s not always about even when life’s hard. When life’s good people are telling you ‘you da man, you da man’ well if you keep the mentality ‘Head Down Eyes Up’ forget about all that, focus on your goal nobody can stop you. That’s just kind of become my life motto and I put it on a hat in college, I literally did it with a sharpie…I still have that hat.”

A special heads up to Dan Van of ALBRIGHT & O’MALLEY & BRENNER for keep his eye out for Chase Rice audio and sending this to us.
