CARRIE UNDERWOOD: More Early Music Coming!

Be sure to head for iTunes this Tuesday when another exclusive pre-release track from Carrie Underwood‘s upcoming album, Play On, becomes available for sale as part of iTunes’ three-week Countdown to Carrie’s November 3rd album release. “Mama’s Song” made its debut last Tuesday, and this coming week will mark the arrival of another song Carrie co-wrote, called “Temporary Home.” Every iTunes digital single purchase from Play On, including her current smash, “Cowboy Casanova,” as well as “Mama’s Song,” “Temporary Home,” and the October 27th release of “Undo It,” all count toward the purchase of the full album through iTunes’ Complete My Album feature. Fans who use Complete My Album to pick up Play On will also receive an exclusive free track — Carrie’s version of the holiday classic, “O Holy Night.” Check out the Carrie Countdown at itunes.com/playon.

  • And you don’t have to wait for Tuesday to get a sneak preview of “Temporary Home”! Check out Billboard.com on Sunday to hear a 60-second snippet before anyone else! And next Sunday, October 25th, you can also hear a snippet of “Undo It” to whet your appetite for the digital single for sale at iTunes the following Tuesday!
  • Congratulations to Carrie on her nomination earlier this week for Favorite Female Artist — Country Music, for the 2009 American Music Awards! The broadcast of this year’s show will air November 22nd on ABC.
  • WOW! Carrie is going to have her own television special! Set for December 7th, the show will be a two-hour variety special featuring special guests Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley, and David Cook. The show will include a mix of hits and holiday classics, in addition to music from Carrie’s Play On album. An official show title and more guests are to be announced, but the time is set — 8pm, ET, on FOX!
  • Carrie’s video for “Cowboy Casanova” is number-one on this week’s CMT Top 20 Countdown, and it’s a video that Carrie really enjoyed making. She notes that it’s different in some ways from others she’s done because “there’s a lot more costuming involved,” and while her video for “All-American Girl” had a lot of wardrobe changes, Carrie loves the fun, artsy style and vibe of “Cowboy Casanova.” She says, “We’re all kind of in a different period, still very modern…I’ve still got the bling-bling, and the blingy boots and stuff like that, but everything’s kind of set in a different time, and it’s really French-feeling, and just kind of really cool.”
