CARRIE UNDERWOOD: Makin’ It Awesome

Congratulations to Carrie Underwood, who not only delivered the television debut of her new single, “Two Black Cadillacs,” on Sunday’s American Music Awards, but also walked away with the award for Favorite Album – Country for her chart-topping collection, Blown Away. The album has already launched back-to-back number-one singles with “Good Girl” and “Blown Away” — though when it comes to buying music, Carrie says she’s a woman of two worlds — with a heart for the fun of a physical CD, but an appreciation for buying music online, too. But however you choose to buy your favorite music, Carrie’s goal in making an album is to make sure that every song is awesome enough that you’ll want ’em all. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • This year’s AMA win marked Carrie’s 7th American Music Award and her fourth win for Favorite Album – Country, meaning that all of Carrie’s albums are now AMA winners!
  • In accepting her American Music Award on Sunday for Favorite Album – Country for Blown Away, Carrie said, “Thank you so much. Wow! This means so much to me because I really am so very proud of this album. I’d like to thank God for giving me the love for music and inspiration to make this album and for giving me the most amazing fans in the entire universe that support us each and every night when we’re on the road with the ‘Blown Away Tour.’ I couldn’t love my life any more than I do right now,” adding to her husband in the audience, Mike Fisher, “Baby, I love you so much,” before she continued, “Thanks to my family and all my friends and the fans and radio for givin’ us jobs. God bless you guys! Thank you so much!”
  • And from the American Music Awards to the People’s Choice Awards, Carrie was announced this past week as a triple-nominee for the 2013 People’s Choice Awards, where she’s nominated for Favorite Country Artist, as well as the all-genre categories of Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Album (for Blown Away). You can vote as as often as you like for all of your favorite performers in music, films, and TV, and you can see a complete list of nominees and cast your ballots online at PeoplesChoice.com. Voting in nearly all of this year’s categories runs until the end of the day on December 13th, so vote early and vote often to support your favorites!

CARRIE UNDERWOOD: Makin’ It Awesome  Carrie Underwood talks about buying music — and making music (1:26)
“I’m one of those, like, old-fashioned, I guess you could call me now, old-school people that I like to go out and buy an album. There’s something about it. There’s something about holding it in your hand, you have the CD, you can put the CD in your car, you see the pictures, you see the words, you see the thank-yous — like, there’s so much love that goes into creating an album, and a lot of times, I feel like people miss it because they’re not physically holding it in their hands. And that’s today, you know? It’s so great for me ’cause I’ve bought CDs three times that I’ve lost three times, and now I get to go — I buy my favorite songs (laughs) on iTunes! It’s awesome! And rediscovering stuff, and things that you don’t really see sitting on the shelves in a CD store anymore, you know, you can go on iTunes and find, and it’s absolutely amazing. But it’s also forced all of us to really bring it on an album. You want people to buy the album, so you have to make every single track on that album spectacular. I have 14 songs on this album. I basically have to have 14 singles on this album — because I want people to want it. I want people to be able to want to listen to the entire album, from front to back, and get the big picture and understand what I’m trying to do and where I’m going with it. You know, of course, if anybody gets into any of my music, whether it’s one song or all 14, I mean, it’s a victory, you know? But I would much rather them, of course, buy 14 awesome songs rather than pick a few out.”
