Carrie Underwood‘s newest single is the beautiful “Mama’s Song” — it’s the fourth hit from her Play On album, and it’s also a song that Carrie co-wrote. The song’s storyline of the warm relationship between a daughter and her mother is true to what Carrie and her mom, Carole, share, and Carrie hopes that a lot of other moms and daughters will relate to the song in the same way. Carrie Underwood talks about “Mama’s Song.” (:32)
“The song was meant, in the beginning, to kind of be…it was taking the form of like a wedding song, like, you know, this person is goin’ away, their…this mom has to let go and give her daughter away to another person to take care of. That’s an amazing, sad, and happy time in somebody’s life. The daughter’s saying, ‘It’s okay, Mom,’ you know, ‘He’s good. He treats me like he’s supposed to treat me. This is what you would want for me. This is a man that you would want for me.'”
Carrie Underwood says that “Mama’s Song” is a reflection of the relationship that she shares with her mom. (:10)
“‘Mama’s Song’ definitely reflects my mom and I’s relationship, and hopefully a lot of moms and daughters can relate to this, too. I love singin’ this song.”
