CARRIE UNDERWOOD: A Dream of a Song

Nashville is blessed with a great many amazing songwriters — many of them who are recording artists, too, like Carrie Underwood — and so if you’re writing for an artist who writes, you need to be at the top of your game and have a good sense of what will work for that artist. So Carrie was understandably relieved when she first heard her new song, “Just a Dream,” and liked it…because the writers had written it specifically for her. “It was amazing to me that they really hit the nail on the head,” Carrie says, as she laughs, “I think I might feel silly” if someone said “‘We wrote this for you,’ and it was something that I would never sing.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • “Just a Dream” is the fourth big hit from Carrie’s Carnival Ride album that features the chart-toppers “So Small,” “All-American Girl,” and “Last Name.”
