Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are not only the reigning CMA Female and Male Vocalist of the Year, respectively, but they’re also the co-hosts of this year’s CMA Awards show. It’s the first time hosting for both of them…and they feel like this will give fans a chance to see them — and get to know them — in a different kind of way. Brad and Carrie have spent time together on different occasions — including recording the duet “Oh Love,” for Brad’s 5th Gear album — so there’s already a natural rapport between them. And both are naturally funny. Brad credits Carrie with “a very dry sense of humor” — something playfully apparent as they chat about how they’ll gear-up for being funny on the show. • Brad is in the running for four CMA honors this year, nominated for Song of the Year (“Letter to Me”), Video (“Waitin’ on a Woman”), Male Vocalist, and Entertainer of the Year!
• Carrie is up for a pair of CMA trophies — Female Vocalist, and Album of the Year for Carnival Ride! The album has already launched three consecutive number-one singles with “Last Name,” “So Small,” and “All-American Girl” — and she’s closing in on the top of the charts with her latest, “Just a Dream.”

Brad: “I feel like it’s the job of a host to not just necessarily read what’s on the teleprompter or, I don’t know, just show up. I feel like, I think we need to be on our game, you know? And…”
Carrie: “You’re a funny guy anyway, though, so…”
Brad: “Well, you’re funny, too. I mean, you have a very dry sense of humor that I think people are gonna…you know, it’s a chance I think for people to get to know us in a way they would never get to know us otherwise. Don’t you think?”
Carrie: “Yeah, definitely.”
