Cam says that she enjoys the social media reaction to her song, “My Mistake,” even more than the applause in concert! (:51)
“Performing, hearing people cheer, is so exciting, and I think country fans try and sing along, even when they’ve never heard it before, they get so excited, or at least they do with this song, and they start singin’ along. It’s so great, and it feels so great. And I think the way that I get to enjoy it even more, which may sound cheesy, is through Twitter and Facebook and Instagram, ’cause then I can read what people are saying about the song, what it means to them, quoting their favorite lyrics, seeing them in videos sing along or lip synch. And I feel like that’s almost an even more personal way to have a moment with it because when I’m performing it, I get to enjoy it just as applause, but then I get, like, the details of what it really means to them through social media. I really appreciate those times, getting that feedback from everybody.”
