CAM: Mayday Video Stories

audio

Cam‘s second music video debuted today. The video for “Mayday” features Cam as a female pilot in the early days of flight attempting to complete a dangerous trip. For the video, Cam got to dress up in clothes from that time period, and to her surprise the early flight gear, which contained a lot of equestrian clothing elements, was actually more comfortable than some of the “lady outfits I would normally have to wear.”

A little behind the scenes trivia for you–the water scenes in the “Mayday” video, were filmed in the same pool that Beyoncé had used for one of her videos a week earlier. This was great news for Cam, who is a big Beyoncé fan. In fact Cam used her as motivation when the filming process started to get a little long. Cam thought to her self “If Beyoncé made it through this, I can make it through.”

audio  Cam enjoyed the period costume she had to wear for her “Mayday” video. (:23)
“It was amazing…it felt really powerful, like back in the day you know it was new to be a pilot so there wasn’t really pilot outfits. They use a lot of equestrian stuff actually, and then there was really set dress for women because there weren’t really women pilots either so…it oddly more comfortable than a lot of lady outfits I would normally have to wear (laugh), so it was really comfortable.”

audio  Cam used the power of Beyoncé to help get her through the water scenes in the “Mayday” video. (:06)
“Beyoncé had just been in the pool like the week before, so I was like ‘If Beyoncé made it through this, I can make it through.’ (laugh)”
