BRAD PAISLEY: Well Worth the Wait

Brad Paisley soars into the Top 15 on the country radio charts this week with his newest smash, “Waitin’ on a Woman,” even as the music video — with special guest star Andy Griffith — vaults a huge ten positions to number-five on CMT’s Top 20 Countdown. And when you think about the fact that it’s a song about the virtues — and even the joys — of waiting, there’s a cool kind of karma in knowing that waiting actually helped make the song a hit. Brad fans will remember “Waitin’ on a Woman” from his Time Well Wasted album in 2005, but it was never released as a single. Fast-forward three years, and Brad says that patience was a very good thing. Back then, “I wouldn’t have been able to get Andy Griffith. I didn’t have the contacts needed to do that in the video.” And Brad also tells us that he got to re-work the song for its 2008 version, saying, “We used some of the original, but it’s mostly a brand new mix and recording,” as he notes, “hindsight’s easy, and that’s the beauty of re-cutting something is you have all of that.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • You can find 2008’s “Waitin’ on a Woman” as a digital single at your favorite online music retailer…as well as on new versions of Brad’s 5th Gear album!
  • 5th Gear, by the way, is Brad’s latest million-seller, with four consecutive number-one hits: “Letter to Me,” “Online,” “Ticks,” and “I’m Still a Guy”!

BRAD PAISLEY: Well Worth the Wait  Brad Paisley says that waiting actually helped make “Waitin’ on a Woman” a success. (:40)
“Re-mixed, some things are re-recorded…we used some of the original, but it’s mostly a brand new mix and recording of the song that they know, done a little more the way I would do it if I had the time back when we did it. You know, everything’s…hindsight’s easy, and that’s the beauty of re-cutting something is you have all of that. And I’m also a big believer in the fact that things happen for a reason. If I had released this at the…what would have seemed like the opportune time during the Time Well Wasted album, I wouldn’t have been able to get Andy Griffith. I didn’t have the contacts needed to do that in the video, and this is a big thing for me.”
