Brad Paisley‘s smash single, “Then,” became his record-setting 10th consecutive chart-topper this week, and it’s easy to understand why it became such a big hit so fast when you hear the kinds of reactions Brad has gotten to the song. He tells us that probably more than any other record he’s ever done (except for “Alcohol,” he says with a wink), couples have been adopting “Then” as a wedding song or simply as something that speaks to their feelings for one another. And for Brad, that’s really rewarding. He says, “As a songwriter, you’ve done your job when people say, ‘That’s my song!’ And I’ve heard that as much as I ever hope to hear it.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

“People are takin’ that, and…almost unlike anything I’ve ever done, and making that their song. I mean, it’s just, you know, I…not counting those people who adopted ‘Alcohol’ as their song. I don’t think they probably had a lot of weddings where they played that, at least in the ceremony. This is somethin’ where I know that I’ve just heard it too many times, and as a songwriter, you’ve done your job when people say, ‘That’s my song!’ And I’ve heard that as much as I ever hope to hear it.”
