BRAD PAISLEY: The Nicest Person I’ve Ever Had on the Road

audio

Brad Paisley has Chris Young out among his special guests on his Beat This Summer Tour this year, and at a number-one party on Tuesday celebrating the success of his recent single, “Beat This Summer,” Brad told reporters that he’s relieved that Chris is on the mend following his recent health scare…and Brad being Brad, he couldn’t help but tease Chris, just a little. (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • Brad has the hottest new single on country radio this week with “I Can’t Change the World,” which follows his back-to-back number-one singles “Beat This Summer” and “Southern Comfort Zone,” all from Brad’s album, Wheelhouse.
  • Chris Young’s health scare last week has a very happy ending, with Chris back in Nashville this past weekend and expected to make a full recovery after a small cut on his leg developed a dangerous bacterial infection. While on tour, Chris began to go into septic shock and was taken by ambulance to Denver’s Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center, where an emergency surgery removed the infection from his leg. In a statement on Tuesday, Chris said, “I want to thank all of my fans for their thoughts and prayers. I received amazing care from Dr. Suarez, Dr. Gill and Dr. Canfield and all the I.C.U. nurses who literally saved my life.” Chris is due to be back on the road, rejoining Brad Paisley’s Beat This Summer Tour for tonight’s (8/22) show in Mountain View, California.

“It’s healing really well. He just felt like, you know, he just felt like he wanted a little lift in his jawline and, you know, and so it’s…I haven’t seen it yet, but he’ll be out this weekend, I think, so…(laughs) I’m kidding. Yeah, I just talked to him on the phone actually. He’s doin’ a lot better. That’s a really…that’s actually a really scary thing. I had a family member die from toxic shock from a staph-type infection at a young age, and you don’t realize that something like a wound or a gash that gets something like MRSA or one of those…or strep or one of the really bad skin infections can kill you, but it can. It’s crazy. And I think, you know, he’s really lucky that he was with some people that encouraged him to go get this fixed, ’cause it’s really…I mean, guys our age, we always think we’ll just sleep it off.”

“I gotta say, I mean, he…I didn’t know him very well until we toured. I knew him a little bit, but he might be the nicest person I’ve ever had on the road. And you know, he really is a great, great guy. I could not think more of him, and it really was scary to think about him… You know I like you when I tease you. You know? So, but yes, while they were in there, I think they did a bunch of cosmetic stuff for him, which is good. I can’t wait to see him, see how that works.” (laughs)
