BRAD PAISLEY: Songwriting to Screenwriting

In addition to co-hosting and performing on this week’s CMA Awards, Brad Paisley has a film project in the works inspired by his new hit song, “I Can’t Change the World.” Brad wrote the script for the film, and he says that there’s a very natural kind of flow from writing a song to writing a screenplay. “The beauty of screenwriting, from what I’ve found, is that you tell these exact same stories you would tell in a song. You hook them in the same way, but you aren’t limited. You don’t have four minutes, and two, you know, you don’t have to rhyme everything, and you…anything your mind can dream up works in a script, in that sense. You’re not limited by, ‘well, that doesn’t sing very well.’ There are different things you’re limited by, but not that. And in that sense, I think any one of these great songwriters on Music Row could be a screenwriter.”
