Brad Paisley‘s first Netflix comedy special hits the streaming service tomorrow, August 15th! While Brad Paisley’s Comedy Rodeo may be his first official comedy special, it’s not like Brad doesn’t have experience in being funny from the stage. Brad has always been known for his sense of humor…from his own shows, to his hosting duties at the CMA Awards, to hosting a comedy festival in Nashville for the last couple of years. Brad says that being humorous on stage was one of the early lessons of his singing career, “since I was a kid, I’ve been playing acoustically, and have done shows that way…where’s it’s me and a guitar, and I do that in my concerts, anyway to this day, I’ll do a song or so by myself. What I found early on was, it was about mastering that stuff between songs, those moments, that going from song to song…what do you say between them? I mean you can go one song into another at some point, but if you’re going to pause and talk, what do you say? I found early on that there are tricks to make people laugh.” Now you get to see Brad trying his hand at full on comedy for his Brad Paisley’s Comedy Rodeo, which also features comedians Nate Bargatze, John Heffron, Jon Reep, Sarah Tiana and Mike E. Winfield. Actor David Hasselhoff and multi-talented Reba McEntire make special appearances. Brad Paisley’s Comedy Rodeo arrives on Netflix this tomorrow, August 15th! Brad Paisley is a busy guy…he’s out on the road singing his new single “Last Time For Everything” on his Weekend Warrior World Tour, he’s getting ready for the special to come out, he’s busy designing guitars for Fender, he’s getting kids ready to go back to school…so he had to check in with us over the phone. So, please note, this soundbite is phone quality…content is high quality…but the sound is phone quality. Thank you for your understanding.
Brad Paisley shares that he actually learned to be funny from his singing career. (:48)
“What I’ve learned, and what’s really fun about this special…and what’s fun about going into this world a little bit for me is that all along, ever since I was a kid, I’ve been playing acoustically, and have done shows that way…where’s it’s me and a guitar, and I do that in my concerts, anyway to this day, I’ll do a song or so by myself. What I found early on was, it was about mastering that stuff between songs, those moments, that going from song to song…what do you say between them? I mean you can go one song into another at some point, but if you’re going to pause and talk, what do you say? I found early on that there are tricks to make people laugh, and then really started to work on that when I started hosting the CMAs with Carrie (Underwood). Carrie and I have both worked on that a lot, where were really into trying to make sure that the material is right.”
