BRAD PAISLEY: Happily, the Voices Aren’t Telling Him to Do Scary Things

With his new album, Play, in stores now, Brad Paisley is treating fans to an album that showcases what Brad considers his second voice — and for listeners, that means they’re in for some all-out instrumental wizardry. “I have two voices,” Brad says, “One is as a singer and lyricist and somebody who conveys the lyric of a song…and the other is as a guitar player.” And with Play chock-full of red-hot pickin’ — from the 11 completely instrumental songs to the five special collaborations with Keith Urban, Steve Wariner, B.B. King, the late Buck Owens, and the bonus “Waitin’ on a Woman” with Andy Griffith — the album is a sonic treat and one that Brad says was really “fun to do.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • Be sure to watch for Brad with a bunch of upcoming TV appearances! He’ll be on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman this Friday (11/7)…followed by a performance on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday (9pm, ET)…and then back to Nashville, where he’ll join Carrie Underwood to co-host ABC’s broadcast of The 42nd Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday night (8pm, ET)!

“I have two voices. One is as a singer and lyricist and somebody who conveys the lyric of a song on the radio or on a record, and the other is as a guitar player. And people miss the guitar part because, you know, our society listens to lyrics and words. So it’s fun to do a record that sort of, good or bad, forces you to listen to that side of it.”
