Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood have a blockbuster hit on their hands with their smash single, “Remind Me,” but like many fine ideas through the years, Carrie and Brad tell us that the initial concept for the song just needed a little work to ensure that it wouldn’t be “the worst idea in the history of mankind.” (AUDIO INFO BELOW)

  • “Remind Me” is the third smash from Brad’s red-hot new album, This Is Country Music, which also includes the hit title track and the chart-topping “Old Alabama,” featuring Alabama!

BRAD & CARRIE: A Big Thumbs-up from Mankind!  Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood talk about the beginnings of their smash single, “Remind Me.” (1:06)
Brad
: “This is the last thing I started to write for this album. And when we were a little ways into the writing, I said, ‘I just hear her singin’,’ so I call her. I didn’t even have a verse when I talked to you on the phone.”
Carrie: “It was so, like…”
Brad: “Yeah.”
Carrie: “…subject to finishing.”
Brad: “I said, ‘I promise this’ll be great. Here’s the idea.’ And I said, ‘The idea is, verse, and it’s like (singing) nuh, nuh, nuh, nuh, nuh, nuh…'”
Carrie: “He’s singin’ this to me, like, on the phone. Jibberish.”
Brad: “Somethin’ about, you know, you used to say this to me, you used to do this, and I used to be this and (singing) duh, nuh, nuh, nuh, and don’t you miss that? Boom! Chorus! And I go, ‘Now, it’s been so long, I wish I’d remembered (singing) da, da, da da,’ and you sang (playfully imitating Carrie), ‘Remind me.’ And that’s me doin’ that.”
Carrie: “It happened just like that.”
Brad: “And she’s listening in silence. It’s like this…and I’m, like, sweating. And I’m thinkin’, ‘This sucks. I know this sounds like the worst idea in the history of mankind.'”
Carrie: “But it was still so very, like, words not finished.”
Brad: “Right.”
Carrie: “It wasn’t completed. It was so…there was a lot, and I was like, I could hear something really special in the song.”
