MEGAN MORONEY TALKS ABOUT HER UPCOMING CMA PERFORMANCE AND HER CMA NOMINATIONS

Can you tell us a bit about this past year for you?
This past year has been, I think, my favorite yet and it’s been because, you know, I got to play my first stadium shows with Kenny Chesney and then I released my sophomore album, and my fans really got behind those two things, and they just made it an unforgettable year. They’ve grown with me. I feel like I’ve made new fans and strengthened the relationship with the fans I had before this year. So, I just feel really grateful.

How does it feel being nominated for a CMA Award?
I mean, I have to pinch myself. My younger self is absolutely freaking out. So yeah, I’m honored to be nominated and getting to perform is going to be amazing and I’m really excited.

You’re nominated for Music Video of the Year for “I’m Not Pretty”, can you tell us about your music video?
So I’m nominated for Music Video of the Year for “I’m Not Pretty”, and it was my first time co-directing and I had a great time doing that alongside Jeff Johnson. I actually casted my friends in real life, so I just remember the day being so much fun, and it was just so much fun to bring my idea to life and this kind of a bigger message going on. It’s kind of like, you know, the nice girls, they’re having an easier time with life. They put a cake in the oven and it comes out iced, which is totally unrealistic, but, kind of just a metaphor and then the mean girls have a really bad time. Their kitchen is on fire and, so, yeah, it’s kind of just a bigger message than, you know, what I wrote “I’m Not Pretty” about, but, I had a great time doing it and, you know, I’m honored that it’s up for CMA.

Can you tell us about your upcoming CMA Performance?

So I am performing, “Am I Okay?” and I can say it will be very blue and very sparkly. Imagine that. Who would have thought?
