ODIES BUT GOODIES Comes Out September 6, 2024!

Old Dominion Talks About Why is Now the Time for the Album ODIES BUT GOODIES

The last tour, which was the No Bad Vibes tour, sort of really taught us you know, who our fans were and who we are as a band in that community that we’ve sort of created. You know, with all these request signs and people just really showing how much they were digging into our entire catalogs beyond the hits, sort of the shows also that we’re building, you know, a family and a culture and we just kinda wanted to put it all in one spot.

Old Dominion Talks About What Song on this album that they think should’ve been a hit, but maybe wasn’t

There’s a few of them. “Nowhere fast”. I’m still like, why didn’t we put that on radio? “My Heart Is A Bar”, I think is a big one, but I don’t know, I almost need to look at the list. I know, and it’s hard. “Hawaii”. Especially now too, because you get in, especially this day and age. What is a hit anymore? You know, but there’s so many different definitions of it and when we’re selling out an arena and everyone’s singing every word to a song like “Hawaii” sounds like a hit to me, you know? So we’re in a very fortunate position that we have that kind of fan base and that kind of music. So yes, there are on paper hits and then there are hits with our fans, which are maybe more important. So that’s part of why this isn’t technically a greatest hits. It’s a collection of all of that. The hits are on there, but there’s all of these other deep cuts that are important to us and important to our fans and that’s why it’s a much bigger project.

Old Dominion Talks About the Importance of Their Fans

It’s difficult to express. We try very hard at every show to express to our fans how important they are to us. We really do feel that they’re there with us, and we don’t feel like we are an act that could sustain without their dedication. There’s plenty of artists out there that put out songs and have hits, and people listen to them and they have a good time. Ours, I think our fans invest and that’s a that’s a rare thing. So we’re just so grateful that they’re still on this ride with us and encouraging us and showing us that we’re making good choices and it’s really an invaluable thing.
