BRAD PAISLEY: RECAPS THE RETURN OF NASCAR CUP SERIES RACING TO NASHVILLE (Audio/Video)
Well the Cup Series belongs in Nashville. I mean, we’re talking about a racetrack set there empty forever and to see it– I went out there a few years ago empty and and it was- my friend Jeff Gordon was testing his car when he was still driving. And I said, Hey, I he called me and said, ‘Hey, what are you doing? You want to come out and I’m just test it.’ So I came out and watched him test only car and thing you know, there he goes, doing laps at whatever, a couple 100 miles an hour. Well, we just hung out in between laps, they would diagnose it, and then he would go back out and but seeing it empty was really, really ghostly. I mean, that place, it was just asking for a race. It needed that and there it was. And then when I went back last weekend and saw this, it’s like, look what they’ve done. I mean, it shouldn’t have looked like it did they spent money on that place. They got it up to date, and there was not an empty seat. And yeah, just really good timing also to bring a race to Nashville right after the pandemic when everybody’s dying to see this stuff in person again, and I hope it’s here to stay.
