Adam Doleac on “Silky Smooth”
I was in a band in college.  The baseball team kind of formed a band and we were just- Everything about it is really bad, starting with the name.  It’s called Silky Smooth.  The name came from Jason Kipnis who is the Cleveland Indians Second baseman.  I played summer ball with him and all summer long he did this character.  He walked around and he goes ‘My name is Silky S. Johnson and the S stands for Smooth,’ but he just did it all summer. And so, I came back into town and of course I named the band, unfortunately it’s my fault.  So, in the band was myself on drums, Jameson Rodgers, another artist, was the singer, and Brian Dozier was the guitar player who just won the World Series with the Nationals this past year.  So, I tell everybody I mean we were so bad- the name, we played three shows.  Most people make t-shirts to sell to the public, we had our own t-shirts to wear on stage.  They had Silky Smooth on them and whatever.  Mine had drummer on the back. (laughs). It was so bad!  I always say we were a terrible band, but you know two of us ended up with a record deal and one just won a World Series.

Adam Doleac’s response to a possible “Silky Smooth” reunion
You know what? We absolutely should because we do not have any camera evidence as of now.  We should redo it for sure… in the same terrible t-shirts.

When I was at Southern Miss, Adam Doleac and I had a band called Silky Smooth.  Another member of the band, guitar player, back then was Brian Dozier.  He’s played the last 8 years in the MLB- won a World Series with the Nationals.  Man, back then, I think we knew only about 10 songs, but we had to play for 4 hours so- yeah, good times.  I still have a t-shirt that has Silky Smooth with my name on the back I used to wear to the show, not sure why I wore it at the show.  It’s kind of more of a merch thing, but it was kind of my uniform… Alright, whatever.  But, yeah, I think we should get a reunion back one day maybe down at Southern Miss. I think we only played like 2 or 3 shows total. So, we were very good to say the least.
