Tim McGraw: Partners with John Meacham to release new book “Songs of America”
Pulitzer-Prize winner Jon Meacham and Grammy award-winner Tim McGraw release a new book, Songs of America: Patriotism, Protest, and the Music that Made a Nation. The book, which explores the role of music throughout American history, is available now. To accompany the release, McGraw and Meacham will embark on a six-city book tour unlike any other, presenting a night of conversation between the two friends and select acoustic performances by McGraw.
BOOK
Songs of America is at its heart a celebration of America and the music that has inspired us. Through years of strife and triumph, America has been shaped not only by our leaders, our words and our deeds, but by our music—by the lyrics, performers and instrumentals that have carried us through dark days and enabled us to celebrate bright ones. From the “Star Spangled Banner” to “Born in the USA,” Meacham and McGraw take us on a journey illuminating the eras of history through the music of those times— from the Revolutionary War to the present—that helped define American culture.
TOUR
Exploring American history through music, Meacham and McGraw will give an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at what went into creating the book, and their friendship as they combine their individual perspectives as writer and artist to create a unique view of the role music has played in uniting and shaping our nation. Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal,
the Songs of America event will be both illuminating and entertaining. To add to the evening, listeners will get some special musical performances of songs from the book by McGraw.
Each ticket for the Songs of America Book Tour includes a copy of Meacham and McGraw’s forthcoming
book, Songs of America: Patriotism, Protest, and the Music that Made a Nation (a $30 value).
