While Chris Young has made many, many appearances on the Grand Ole Opry stage, this upcoming Tuesday will be unlike any one of those previous visits. When Chris appears at the Opry this Tuesday, October 17th, he will be welcomed as its newest member. Of course, he’s fully aware of what will happen that night, unlike when he was surprised back in August by Vince Gill asking him to be a member. Chris was completely and totally surprised by the invite, and he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way, “I’m just gonna go ahead and tell you I had no idea and it was the only time I looked at someone and told them ‘Thank you for not telling something.’ Yeah that was just pretty insanely special right there.” Chris is going to have a very busy week coming up as his song “Losing Sleep” continues to climb the song charts, his album of the same name arrives in stores and online Friday October 20th, just 3 days after he becomes the Grand Ole Opry’s newest member.

“And we will have a formal induction a little later on in the year as we always do but just as a friend and as someone that’s been out here for thirty years, you will not believe the friendships and the relationships and the heart that you will gain from being out here for the rest of your life, its gonna really be powerful to you so congratulations. (crowd cheers)”
Back in August Chris Young gets emotional after being asked to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry, but jokes about the people listening to the radio broadcast as he gets ready to sing “Sober Saturday Night.” (:40)
“I don’t cry at anything man this is stupid… (crowd cheers) the worst part is this song is really hard to sing and everybody on the radio right now is just like shut up and sing a song…(crowd laughs) oh dang. it you got me really good.
