Walker Hayes is working his way up the song charts with his single “You Broke Up With Me,” but before he could move up the charts, he had to make a movie to Nashville. Walker recalls that the start to his musical career is thanks to some help pestering by his dad and brother, “The reason I started playing was kind of on a whim. My dad, and brother would listen to me just kind of mimic people…Chris Young was one of them, and I’d just kind of mimic people and my dad was like ‘Hey, I think you need to do that at this bar, in Mobile’ and I was like ‘Nah. I’m a little bit scared, I don’t want to do that, leave me alone.’ Finally, I reluctantly said ‘Hey, if you just leave me alone, I’m going to do it one night…you know, we’ll see how it goes.’ I swear to you, I did it, and I feel in love. At that moment I said ‘Nah, I’m not going to stay here and sell real estate, I want to move to Nashville.’ Called my fiancé at the time, Laney, said ‘Hey, you want to movie to Nashville?’ Told her parents the next week, and when we got married we came to Nashville.” Now Walker is singing “Hey” in his song “You Broke Up With Me”–and you can see his homemade video for the song on his website, Walker Hayes dot com, or just click HERE
