Maren Morris has written some pretty great songs in her career already, that includes writing or co-writing all the tracks on her debut album HERO, including her current single “I Could Use A Love Song.” Maren admits that she is a “song writer lover,” and when it comes to the ultimate song writer, she turns to the legendary John Prine, “he’s just the pinnacle of songwriting for me, because I grew up listening to songs like ‘Angel From Montgomery,’ and ‘Illegal Smile’.” Maren says with having John as a influence sets the expectations bar pretty high, and it’s her fellow Music City song writers that really keep her striving to be better on a daily basis, “moving to Nashville, where some of the greatest songwriters in the world live…trying to live up to that caliber is an everyday curve to learn on, so it keeps me on my toes for sure.” But in the end, Maren is OK if she doesn’t have it all down as a song writer yet, “I mean I’m always going to be a student, I’m always going to be a sponge when it comes to song writing.” You can check out the video for Maren’s song “I Could Use A Love Song” at Maren Morris dot com, or just click HERE
