Old Dominion‘s new album Happy Endings comes out on Friday–and at this point the guys have answered so many questions about the album, that they try to come up with new takes to let people know about the sound of the music on Happy Endings, like their hit song “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart.” So, a comment was made about Happy Endings having a “thicker” sound than the songs on their previous album Meat And Candy…to which lead singer Matthew Ramsey started an answer that Trevor Rosen took into the world of cooking, with Brad Tursi, and Whit Sellers joining in on, while Geoff Sprung was just sitting back until the end where he commented that he enjoyed watching the answer quickly devolved. Just listen, you’ll enjoy it too. Happy Endings arrives in stores and online this Friday, August 25th!
The guys in Old Dominion respond to the comment that Happy Endings has a “thicker” sound that their last album. (:36)
Matthew: “It definitely is a thicker sound than Meat And Candy for sure…but we didn’t go crazy”
Trevor: “It’s just finding hooks though, and it’s like cooking… you add this and you add that but then at some point you go ‘tastes good.’
(Old Dominion laughs)
Trevor: “We got to the point where our songs tasted good.”
Matt: “You get the couscous in there”
Whit: “Double muddle it”
Brad: “Triple souffle”
Trevor: “If you caramelize it too long it’ll take some of the natural sugars and what they call…
(Old Dominion can’t contain laughter)
Geoff: “That was my favorite one. Just watching that implode was delightful.”
(Old Dominion laughs)
Geoff: “Just incomplete sentences”
