Old Dominion is ready to release their sophomore album Happy Endings on August 25th, and to get their fans ready too, they’re hitting the road on their Bud Light Dive Bar Tour with a set list made up of their new songs. Fans have access to “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart,” “Written in the Sand”, and now “Shoe Shopping” which have created even more anticipation of the new album. The current buzz around these songs is all about the powerful and creative lyrics. Even though the band is in the midst of a crazy schedule of tour dates and performances, they still manage to find creative inspiration to crank out lyrics that are so accurate and relatable in their fans lives. Lead singer Matthew Ramsey explains the band’s method to song writing while touring, “It’s a different life but you’re still experiencing life and you still have friends who are and family who is and as a songwriter you have to learn to be open as much as you possibly can and look for it in everything, listen to music and read books and watch movies and think real life is still happening.” It is impressive that while the members of Old Dominion are in the middle of the hype that comes with being some of country music’s biggest stars, they continue to create these detailed soundtracks that double as anthems for their fans. Matthew admits, “Its just a matter of learning how to be open to an idea or inspiration.” It is no surprise that the band stays in tune to creative opportunities from life experiences, we all have those pivotal times in our lives that we will forever remember and Old Dominion always seems to write a song about them.
