“I Could Use A Love Song” was inspired by Maren Morris’ belief that fighting past the negativity of bad break up is what brings the light out of a dark situation. ““I wrote it just right after I went through this break up that really put the whole Hero album into motion and I wrote it here in Midtown with my friends Laura Veltz and Jimmy Robbins. I think we had all, like I was initially going through it but they also had been through those moments like most of us probably have who have been through a relationship that didn’t end well that sort of cynical side that comes out when you’re feeling burned or maybe you’re the cause of the breakup.” “I Could Use A Love Song” showcases the feelings and actions many people go through when getting over a bad end to a relationship. Maren shares that she understands these feelings too and instead of dwelling on the bad, she looks for the good, “there’s this feeling and this cynicism that creeps in that just tells you, you know just exactly how every relationship from now on is going to go because they’re all the same (laughs) and so its about that feeling but also fighting passed it and realizing all good things eventually come to an end and if you look back on it in negativity its not healthy for anyone so there has to be this light at the end of the tunnel”. Maren’s positive messages are carried out in her performances and delivered straight to her fans.
