Luke Combs debut album This One’s For You arrives in stores and online on Friday! The journey to get here has been a long one for Luke, “I’ve been at this for six or seven years now and it really does feel like a moment where it’s all that hard work has apexed into this one product that I can say ‘Hey this is who I am and this is who I want to be,’ and I hope that people love it.” Fans who get the album can know that this has Luke’s finger prints all over it, “everything on here is coming from me…and me and my friends so there’s not a ton of cowriters on this album so a lot of the stuff is me and a select few people and I think you can feel that cohesiveness as you listen to the album.” When it comes to that “cohesiveness,” Luke describes the sound a little more in depth, “Sonically speaking, there’s a lot of fun stuff, a lot of tempo stuff and then there’s a lot of slower more I guess reflective songs. The title track is pretty reflective and I never try to, especially as a song writer, put myself in any kind of a box. I just love writing and when I go in, I just want to write whatever the best song is going to be that day. I don’t ever go in and say ‘Hey I need this kind of a song or I need that kind of a song,’ I just write whatever me and my buddies land on and that’s what this album is, a collection of, essentially what I think are the 12 best songs that I had written from the time that I moved to Nashville until I recorded the album.” At the end of the day though, This One’s For You is just what Luke wanted to create, “Being my debut album, it’s cool and obviously I’m super proud of it and I think we hit the nail on the head trying to capture what my sound is and me and the guys that I write with and it’s a realization of a big dream. I’ve spent a lot of time and I’ve been at this for six or seven years now and it really does feel like a moment where it’s all that hard work has apexed into this one product that I can say ‘Hey this is who I am and this is who I want to be,’ and I hope that people love it and I’m just so excited for people to hear it.” And when it comes to who, This One’s For You is for, “Luckily my parents have always been super supportive. I’ve been singing my whole life so they knew I loved singing. But as far as doing it in this sense, a career, I don’t think they saw it coming or did I. So it was cool when it all started to work and we were playing the shows and people were coming out and now to have this tangible thing you can hold in your hands and there’s so many people that are involved with it, it’s just like what a great moment and what a great way to not only have my parents be proud of me but everybody that’s helped me get to this point be proud and I think that’s what this album is, it really is ‘this one’s for you,’ it really is that.” Luke will be on The Devil Don’t Sleep tour with Brantley Gilbert in Tampa on Friday when the album comes out–which might be bad news for his Florida fans, cause Luke is going to be on the hunt to get his own album, “I’d definitely plan on doing that, man I’m going to hit the Walmart or something like that and buy every copy they have. We’re playing in Tampa that day, so if you’re in Tampa, you’re not going to be get a copy of the album because I’m going to buy it, probably buy all of the copies in Tampa and keep them for myself. Maybe I’ll buy them all, here’s what I’ll do, I’ll buy all of the copies of the album in Tampa and I’ll sign them and I’ll throw them out from the stage in Tampa.” Luke Combs debut album This One’s For You, which features his two week number-one song “Hurricane,” arrives in stores and online this Friday June 2nd!

  Luke Combs talks about the kind of songs that fans will be able to find on his debut album, This One’s For You. (:41)
