Maren Morris is going through a lot of amazing things in her very young career. She’s already a CMA, ACM and Grammy winner. And while some of the things that have happened to Maren are surprises, even the ones she knows about in advance still overwhelm her…in a good way, “You can know all the information but until you get in the driver’s seat with all of it, it’s still a shock. You build up so many thoughts and emotions in to doing your first tour, but you don’t know until you step on that stage what it’s really going to be like. It’s always a slap in the face, in a good way, a healthy way.” Maren says a perfect example was the night of the ACMs, “They had announced that I had won the New Female Vocalist award a couple of weeks prior to the actual broadcast of the awards, but it’s still that emotion of being up there. I had just performed a really emotional song and then having the hard copy ACM handed to me in that moment of getting like a standing ovation after ‘I Could Use A Love Song,’ then having my first ACM handed to me is just . . . I don’t care if you do see it coming, it was so emotional because even though they had announced that I had won a couple weeks before, it’s still me holding an ACM in my hands. There’s just nothing that emotionally prepares you for that until it happens.” There’s sure to be a lot more moments in 2017 that slap Maren Morris in the face…in a good way.
Maren Morris says that even when she knows something good is going to happen in her career, she still gets surprised. (:63)
