Old Dominion‘s new song “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart” is not only a great song, but it also contains some great advice. Old Dominion’s lead singer Matthew Ramsey shares that as most of the guys in the band have kids, there was an element of parent advice that made it into the lyrics…but, on the flip side, as grown adults, Matthew says there’s also a lot of truth in the lyrical question of “How did my mom and dad ever do it?” All of that was rolled into one of the hottest songs of 2017.
Matthew from Old Dominion talks about the advice side of their new single “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart.” (:31)
“Most of us have kids and that is where, especially the second verse of the song, came from is just . . . the first we were kind of thinking about ‘How did our parents do this?’ and I guess they just had each other and then ‘What are we gonna tell our kids?’ We just started thinking about that and what do we tell our kids when they’re feeling challenged or down or whatever? They’re gonna have questions and I think that is something that we tried to do. It’s just . . . Speak like we would to them.”
