Old Dominion has been in the Tortuga Music Festival lineup for the past two years but the band is hoping that this year they will finally have the chance to play in front of fans. Confused? Well, according to Old Dominion’s lead singer Matthew Ramsey, “We’ve tried to play Tortuga, this will be our third attempt. We’ve been there twice before. The first time there was like a fire code violation or something they hadn’t had it inspected yet and they wouldn’t open the gates but they still had the run on schedule. We were the first band of the day on the main stage and they said you’ve got to go on. So we played at least half of our set if not two thirds of it to no one. Just to a big open beach of nobody and so they felt bad about that and they were like we are going to have you back next year. So we were like great and they gave us a great time slot, it was like right before Dierks (Bentley) I think. It started to lightening and they cancelled. They cancelled our set. We were the only band of the day to cancel our set which we then ended up tweeting out that we were going to be at this little hotel bar across the street. We hijacked the house bands instruments and made them mad at us but a few fans came over there and we played a little acoustic show for them. So this year, third times a charm hopefully we will be actually able to play our set. Like in front of a crowd and with good weather. Tortuga.” Old Dominion is hoping for sunshine and blue skies this coming weekend and fans will (fingers crossed) have the chance to hear their latest single “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart” at Tortuga this year. Some of the other artists joining Old Dominion at this year’s Tortuga festival are Kenny Chesney, Maren Morris, Kane Brown and Luke Combs.
