While Luke Combs’ single “Hurricane” is currently storming the charts, Luke recalls being “blown away” as a young boy by Elton John. Luke remembers raiding his parent’s CD collection and finding Elton John’s Greatest Hits album. “So the first time I heard Elton John, it was like I got to hear this incredible catalogue of songwriting and composition and singing. It blew me away,” Luke said. The country artist reveals that some of his earliest inspiration came from this album, and that he will never forget his first time listening to these “epic songs.”
Luke reveals where he got his earliest inspiration (:60)
“Elton John is somebody that I got my hands on because…obviously I didn’t grow up when Elton John was putting music out. So I think, some people might not agree but luckily I was born after that because I went in to raid the parents CD collection and there is this two-disk Elton John Greatest Hits album. So the first time I heard Elton John, it was like I got to hear this incredible catalogue of songwriting, and composition, and singing. It blew me away. I am like “wow dude, this is just unreal. This whole catalogue of just epic songs man.” Him and Bernie Taupin were just the most dynamic songwriting/composer duo of all time in my opinion. You just can’t go wrong with some of those songs are just so good and that is just something that I will never forget listening to for the first time.”
