Kenny will also walk away with two trophies with a win, as he would be awarded as both a producer and an artist! Make sure to check out Kenny and P!nk at The 52nd Annual ACM Awards on Sunday April 2nd, airing live from Las Vegas on CBS TV.
Kenny Chesney answers the question…which comes first, the song or the duet partner? (:40)
“Oh, the song definitely. I’ve done a lot of duets, and every time I’m really proud to say that, every time that I’ve done a duet…whether it was with Willie Nelson or Dave Matthews or Uncle Kracker or Jimmy Buffet, I sang with George Strait, Grace Potter. I’ve done a lot, OK, and every time I’m very proud to say that the song was the reason for the collaboration. Sometimes we hear collaborations that start with the idea of them singing together but they don’t have the song. In my opinion, have to you have to have a song first, which was the case with P!nk. So, I sent her the song, and she loved the melody, and loved the song and what it said and next thing you know we’re in the studio.”
